Police sources have revealed details of an attempted suicide by Joseph Jowie Irungu, the key suspect in the Monica Kimani murder case.
Citizen TV quoted DCI’s George Kinoti and well-placed sources familiar with the investigations stating that preliminary investigations lead to the conclusion that the suspect may have shot himself in an apparent suicide attempt.
The sources revealed that the wound on the left side of the pelvic area may have been inflicted at Citizen TV star Jacque Maribe’s house.
A thorough search conducted in three houses unearthed partially burnt clothes behind an apartment in Langata where the shooting is believed to have occurred.
The remains of the burnt clothes were taken by police for DNA testing to establish if they are the same clothes Irungu was wearing at the time of the incident.
Below is the video of the fresh twist unravelled in the most recent operation by DCI, courtesy of Citizen TV.
The search conducted by DCI team led by George Kinoti saw police comb through a house in Nairobi’s Buruburu estate and two other houses, one belonging to Citizen TV news anchor Jackie Maribe and her neighour’s Langata.
Police also retrieved the gun that is believed to have been used in the shooting and arrested another suspect identified as Brian Kasaine.
Yesterday evening saw the police arrest Jacque Maribe after three days of interrogation by the DCI over the killing of 28 year old Miss Kimani.
The deceased was laid to rest on Friday even as police attempt to unravel the mystery of her death.
