Disgruntled Siaya residents are planning to move to court to block the approval of Governor James Orengo’s nominee as chief officer for enterprise and industrial development.

Weekly Citizen has established that shocking details emerged surrounding the academic qualifications of Michael Oliech Ombambo, when he presented himself before the vetting committee at Siaya County Assembly.

For starters, Oliech  is an active political character who comes from Orengo’s Ugenya backyard and even failed during ODM primaries.

When he presented himself before the Sectoral Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Oliech confidently claimed that he had a Masters of Arts in Corporate Leadership and Governance and a Bachelor of Applied Management (Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management) from the University of the Valley in Mexico.

But surprisingly he was unable to avail any documents to support his claims.

It’s during the dramatic vetting that it also emerged that Oliech runs a private primary school in the sprawling Manyatta in Kisumu.

The revealtions came as he struggled to support his other claims that he was a certified teacher .

He failed to prove before the committee that he was a teacher by profession and his critics now want the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to also investigate him and unearth the truth regarding his membership with the body.

Weekly Citizen is informed that the controversial Oliech could not even state the structure of the county government, with the vetting team.

Many are wondering how Orengo nominated such a character.

” He’s carrying himself as a teacher yet he has no TSC number and could not convince the team that he’s a classroom tutor, ” revealed a source who participated in the vetting .

Sources added that Oliech didn’t know the County Executive Committee member in charge of the docket he has now been nominated on.

It’s not immediately clear why he was cleared despite such grave allegations.
