Former Citizen TV news anchor Joey Muthengi has scored a new job with an international media company after leaving the local station.
Through a post on her Instagram, she revealed the email she received from Voice of America (VoA) notifying her of the job offer.
“Joey, English to Africa Service, Voice of America has an urgent job request for you, please review on pay desk and accept or decline ASAP,” read the email.
She revealed that VOA was where she completed her first internship when she was in college.
VOA’s English to Africa Service provides multimedia news and information covering all of Africa.
VOA programs engage audiences with information about politics, science, technology, health, business, the arts, as well as programming on sports, music, and entertainment.
In addition, the English to Africa service is home to the South Sudan Project, which provides news and information to radio and web consumers in the world’s newest country.
During her last appearance on Citizen TV in November, she gave an emotional tribute to the media house’s management.
She also thanked her co-host Willis Raburu and the entire production crew. She lauded her audience for support and admitted she’d be having tougher days in the recent past.
“For those asking where I am headed; I am going to the club tonight, I will take some time to relax and recuperate. I think I deserve that.
She added that she would travel a lot starting with her home county Machakos.
