John Cena Updates Fans on His Future with the WWE

by kenya-tribune

Ever since John Cena stepped away from the ring to star in movies, fans have been wondering if a day will come when he hangs up the shorts for good. Good news; the wrestler-turned-actor just shared a message reflecting on his career ahead of filming Fast & Furious 9, in which he confirms that his journey with the WWE is “far from over.”

“17 years ago today my @WWE journey began,” the wrestler-turned-actor wrote on Twitter. “It is FAR from over and has greatly changed over the years. It has given me chances to be brave and vulnerable. Today #FastAndFurious journey begins.” He also shared his feelings on what the future holds, in a not-entirely-serious message of advice to his fans: “Fear, the unknown, growth, and maybe a haircut await. Adapt. Overcome. Never Give Up.”

While Cena remains grateful to the WWE for the opportunities it has opened up for him, and he will continue to work with the organization in some capacity, he also believes that his name is no longer required to draw viewers. “They don’t need me,” he said recently. “I am grateful for everyone who says ‘we miss you,’ and there was a time when I could genuinely say from a financial standpoint that they needed me; that time is up.”

He also went on to say that he believes the WWE will look very differently in the future, with a more diverse slate of star athletes that represents the growing diversity of the audience: “I don’t think there’s a universal figure that will lead the company forward… I think the band, essentially, will have ten lead singers of every different race, creed, color, sex, ethnicity.”
