Jomvu MP Badi Twalib has opposed Mombasa county government move to close down two subcounty health facilities in his backyard. He cautioned county government plans to close Jomvu and Miritini health facilities will not be allowed at any cost. He blames Governor Hassan Joho for planning for his downfall using the Covid -19 crisis. “Don’t use the transfer of medics at two local facilities as an excuse in the war against the spread of the corona virus,” he pointed out. Badi said the closure of the facilities and transfer of the medical officers is against public health awareness. He spoke when he presented a dummy cheque to the National Hospital Insurance Fund worth Sh10.5 million to the fund’s southern region marketing manager Mumbi M’nairobi during a brief ceremony held outside his residence at Miritini in Jomvu constituency, Mombasa county.

The lawmaker scoffed at the county government for closing health centres in the outskirts of the city centre instead of opening more. Badi reminded the county government that the national government’s idea is to construct more health facilities at the subcounty level to decongest constituency and county health facilities. Twalib criticised Joho for creating unnecessary crisis in the fight against the spread of the corona virus in his own backyard. He refuted claims his constituency has featured as a hot spot in the corona virus crisis in the whole county. “We are proud the constituency has been on the forefront in combating the lethal disease which lacks a cure,” he stressed. Badi lauded his constituents who abide by the public health regulations in the fight against the virus.
