The first accused person in the murder of Monica Kimani Joesph Kuria Irungu a.k.a Jowie has admitted that he had a gun  which never belong  to him.

Jowie told trial judge  Grace Nzioka  that the gun he had belonged  to a neighbour  by the name  Brian  Nkasaine.

He told the court that Nkasaine gave him the gun on ground  that he had quarrels  with the wife and did want to have the firearm  in the house.

He further  said  that the gun went off and he got shot on the chest.

Why he lied

The accused  while being  cross examined  by State  prosecutor  Gakui Gishui admitted  that he lied to the police  that he was shot by thugs.

He said that he gave false information  because  he was not licensed  to hold  firearm and it belonged  to neighbour.

According to Jowie at the time gun went off Jackie Maribe his co accused was not present.

He further  admitted  that items collected  from his house  by the police  belonged  to him, which included  a brown khaki short.

The brown  khaki  short according  to the prosecution  had blood  stains and upon  being  subjected  to forensic  examination, the results  showed  blood belonged  to Monica Kimani.

Monica  is not known  to me

Despite  the accused  denying  that he did not know  Monica,the prosecution  produced  videos, phone  calls and photos  showing  his movements  on fateful day and three  other  people  he spoke  to including  a phone  contact  registered  under Monica Kimani’s  now the deceased  name.

One of the videos produced by the prosecutor showed the accused  holding  a gun.

Irungu  and maribe are charged  with offence  of murder against  Monica  Kimani and after the hearing  of the prosecution  witnesses,the two were found liable to the offence  and the court ruled  that  they had a case to answer  and subsequently  put to their defence

Maribe is expected to give her defense this afternoon.
