The tarmacking three-kilometer Juja town-Juja farm road that has been in a deplorable condition for years is set to be completed in two weeks time, Kiambu Governor James Nyoro has said.
The stretch is part of a six-kilometer stretch that was launched by State Department of Infrastructure Principal Secretary Paul Maringa in November at a cost of Ksh 3.9 billion.
The road has already been graded and the drainage system dug, with only few works remaining before tarmac is laid.
A visit by the press Monday established that several graders were on site grading and levelling the road; and a proper drainage system dug on either side of the road.

Vehicles were using a diversion route to reduce disruptions during tarmacking.
Nyoro said funding challenges and the rainy season has delayed their targeted projection deadline of April.
The road was set to open up the area, ease accessibility and enhance industrial development in the area.
It will be an extension of 75 kilometers of road that is being tarmacked from Gatundu to Juja and will connect the many industries, schools and residential areas that are coming up in Juja farm.
“Before going to the mini polls on May 18, the three kilometers will be completed. The other stretch will be completed three months later,” said Nyoro.
The road will eventually be extended all the way to Komo, Githima and Gatuanyaga along the Garissa road, a 28 km stretch.
It will help in reducing traffic snarl ups along Thika Superhighway and opening up interior villages of Athi, Munyu among others for growth.
Residents said seeing graders on site doing construction works proved that the road will eventually be tarmacked.
They said it will end years of frustrations while travelling along the road while spending several hours to arrive at their destinations.
“The far they have gone is enough for us to celebrate that within weeks, the road will be opened. However, we ask that they fast-track the completion of the remaining three kilometers that stretches all the way to Juja farm,” said Jack Mwangi, a resident.
