Kakamega man commits suicide after killing wife

A middle aged man committed suicide after killing his wife in an incident that shocked residents of Emukangu village in Navakholo constituency Kakamega County.

The 40 year old Japheth Wafula is said to have murdered his wife Priscila Wafula after a quarrel that started in their kitchen.

Family members say the couple had marital problems and Japheth had complained that his wife was nagging.

Neighbours also confirmed that domestic violence was common in the household and at one time Japheth was saved from taking poison by his friends.

The family has now lost four people through suicidal incidences among them a 16 year old in the past 12 years.

Area chief Josephat Mutinye and Ward Representative Bonface Akosi urged residents to seek better ways of settling the disputes rather than committing suicide.

Elsewhere, residents of Empakasi area of Kitengela, Kajiado County are lamenting the rising cases of bodies found dumped in the area.

This follows the discovery of two bodies, a male and female in separate locations.

The body of a young woman was on Monday morning found dumped near the road leading to Nkurrunka road.

Locals say the deceased is a stranger in the area and may have been murdered elsewhere.  

In another incident an old man was found murdered at Nkurrunka  area under unclear circumstances.
