Kapkatet subcounty hospital now rapists’ den – Weekly Citizen

Kapkatet Subcounty Hospital in Bureti of Kericho county is turning out to be a rapists’ den.
This follows reports that a male medical staff raped a female patient without a condom. He has since denied committing the offence before a Kericho court.
Hillary Kipkirui Bett who is based at imaging sciences technician department appeared before Kericho chief magistrate Samuel Soita and looked confused when the charge was read to him.
Bett was represented by an advocate pleaded not guilty to the rape charge as read out to him by the court clerk. According to the charge sheet, on June 14 2019 at the Kapkatet Subcounty Hospital, he intentionally and unlawfully raped a 23-year-old woman.

Another account is that he committed an indecent act with an adult but also pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecution, the female patient had gone to the hospital for a CT scan at around 11pm after experiencing severe headaches. It is then that the accused injected her with drugs before raping her.
Bett fled after committing the offense and was arrested from his hideout in Kericho town on June 15 2019.
He was released on a bond of Sh100,000 with a surety of a similar amount as the case was fixed for a pretrial mention on July 1.
In January last year, a Form Two student who had gone for treatment at the same health facility after falling sick in school was defiled by an intern nurse from Kapkatet Kenya Medical Training College.
Dennis Kiplangat Bore was later arraigned before Kericho senior resident magistrate Solomon Ngetich and charged that on 27 January this year at Kapkatet hospital in Kapkatet location within Kericho County, he defiled a minor aged 16 years.
Bore is out on a bond of Sh200, 000 with surety of a similar amount and the case is still pending before the court. Locals want Governor Prof Paul Chepkwony to act.
