NYERI, Kenya, Jan 19 — Police in Karatina have arrested a fifty-year-old man for attempting to defile a 12-yera-old minor at Ihwagi village in Mathira East.
The suspect was caught pants down by a relative who was passing by and saw him dragging the minor into his three-bedroom house.
The villager, Dickson Weru, was coming from a shop when he saw the man and the minor entering into the house .
“All of a sudden I suspected that this man who is known due to his sexual exploit in the village was up to no good so I followed them and to my surprise the minor was inside his bedroom so I just shut the door and informed my fellow villagers,” he said.
Weru, a relative of the minor, said on questioning what he was doing with the minor, the man said he wanted to send her to a nearby shop but the villagers discounted his claims and detained him.
Women who talked to Capital News said that the man is known for enticing young minors into sex but he has always denied.
“This guy here is known for seeking minors on several occasions he has been sighted with young girls but this time he has been caught in the Act,” said a woman who talked on condition of anonymity.
Police in karatina said the man will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete .
