KCB reach Kakamega Sevens Main Cup

KCB RFC whitewashed Kabras Sugar RFC 29-7 in their final Pool C match to secure a Main Cup quarterfinals clash against Strathmore Leos at the ongoing Kakamega Sevens at the Kakamega Bull Ring Stadium.

Dennis Mwanja charges scored five tries converting two against Kabras converted try in a match played on Saturday.

The Bankers‘ prop Vincent onyala run to the runks scoring the first try which was converted by winger Johnston Olindi.

Kabras were unable to secure the runk giving the ball to KCB which was wasted by Onyala.

Shujaa’s Scrummer Brian Tanga side stepped Kabras defence scoring the first try for Henry Du Plessis charges, Kevin Keegan converting it to make it Sevan all.

Former Homeboyz winger Olindi scored KCB’s second try with center Levy amunga missing the conversion to make it 12-7 by interval.

Simba’s Prop Davis chenge who trades for KCB added the third try Shaban Ahmed converting wide to make it 17-7.

KCB’S coach Dennis Mwanja said that they’re taking each match at a time and acknowledged the experience in the squad looking forward to the quarters.

“Varsity side Leo’s played their best in the group stages but we have to stick to our game plan so as to make it to the finals.”

Mwanja also outlined that Olindi is not a new acquisition for the bankers saying that he started his youth career at KCB.

South African Henry Du Plessis was furious with the officiating saying it was biased.

“You all saw the officiating was biased but we don’t have to talk much because everybody in the pitch saw it.”

He added that he will use the circuit to grow his youth.

“We won’t involve a lot of the senior players in the circuit but we hope the youth will improve as the series continues.”

In other Main Cup quarter finals defending champions Menengai Cream Homeboyz will face Nondescripts while Top Fry Nakuru will face varsity side Masinde Muliro University.

Last year’s runners up Mwamba will play Impala Saracens.
