KCSE results of 287 candidates cancelled over irregularities – KBC

Results of 287 candidates who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination – KCSE have been cancelled.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Education, the candidates were involved in various forms of cheating including; Unauthorised materials, mobile phones, impersonation, collusion and double script.

The ministry said the cancelled results are for individual candidates noting that they were not going to cancel results for any center.

“We have also recorded a few cases of impersonation and collusion in some of the centres, which were confirmed and punished in line with the KNEC Act,” read the statement.

Adding that “We are not cancelling examinations for any centre, other than individual candidates of certain centres, where we established beyond doubt that they were involved in examination irregularities.”

There were fewer cases of exam irregularities reported in the 2020 KCSE exams compared to 2019, where 1,309 cases were reported.
