The country’s COVID-19 trends maintained an upward trajectory on Tuesday after 183 new infections were reported.
According to the latest figures released by Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the new infections were detected from 2,061 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The CS who was speaking during the daily briefing, a day after the President announced phased re-opening of the country appealed to Kenyans to take individual responsibility to flatten the curve.
“We have now entered a new phase in the war against Coronavirus pandemic in the country. As we visit our parents at home with supplies, let us also include masks and sanitizers and soap for handwashing, and ensure we adhere to the laid down protocols: CS Mutahi Kagwe”, the CS said.

“It is a war that requires each and every one of us to assume active responsibility of becoming conscious, not only of his own safety and that of his family, but also of others around them,” he added.
The country’s total cases now stand at 8250 with 193, 455 samples tested so far.
From the positive cases confirmed Tuesday, 177 are Kenyans while six are foreigners.
In terms of the distribution of cases by counties, Nairobi leads with 100, Machakos 37, Kiambu 14, Mombasa 13, Kajiado 11, Nakuru 5 and Busia 3.
The distribution of cases in sub counties; Nairobi cases are from; Dagoretti North 21, Embakasi East 21, Embakasi South 16, Westlands 11, Starehe 9, Mathare 8, Roysambu 8, Langata 6, Embakasi Central 5, Embakasi West 5, Kasarani 5, Makadara 5, Kibra 4, Dagoretti South 3, Embakasi North 3, Kamukunji 3, and Ruaraka 1.
In Kiambu, the 19 cases are in, Thika (7), Limuru (3), Ruiru (3), Kabete (2), Kiambu Town (2), Juja (1), and Kikuyu (1). In Mombasa, the 9 cases are in; Jomvu (3), Kisauni (2), Mvita (2), Likoni (1), and Nyali (1).
The Ministry of Health has discharged 90 patients bringing the number of recoveries to 2504.
Three more patients have so far succumbed to the virus bringing the total number of fatalities to 167.
