Kenya names squad ahead of All Africa Games qualifiers

Kenya Volleyball Federation has named a provisional squad of 20 players ahead of the Africa women’s Zone 5 All Africa games qualifiers slated for 18^th -24^th of this month in Uganda.

The team will be under the tutelage of Italian tactician Shailen Ramdoo for the next three months assisted by Japheth Munala and Josp Baraza.

Veteran setter Janet Wanja, Jane Wacu, Mercy Moim, Trizah Atuka, Violet Makuto and Noel  Murambi are some of the regulars who made the cut.

Sharon Chepchumba who was voted the best attacker at the Africa club championship in Cairo, Egypt was also named in the provisional squad alongside Lorine Chebet, Emmaculate Chemutai, and Joy Lusenaka among other upcoming players.

In the 2015 edition of the All Africa games in Congo Brazzaville, Malkia Strikers bagged gold after trouncing perennial nemesis Cameroon by three sets to one.

Zone 5 brings together 12 countries which include fast-rising Uganda, Rwanda, Egypt, Tanzania and Sudan among other countries.

The 12th edition of the All Africa games will be held from 19^th to 31^st August in Rabat, Morocco.  

Meanwhile, Kenya will host the Africa Men’s Zone 5 All Africa Games qualifiers from June 5^th to 10^th in Nairobi.
