Kenya Simbas have fully loaded their guns in readiness for Namibia as the two sides clash in Windhoek in the Africa Division 1A match tomorrow. Simbas have won three straight matches and will be seeking a fourth victory with revenge also on their minds having been thrashed 46-13 by the Namibians last year.
The technical bench has been working on how to find a winning momentum as they head to the 2018 Africa Division 1A championships which will also double up as the 2019 Japan World Cup qualifiers. Assistant coach Dominique Habimana is confident that Kenya will join South Africa as the two African nations to qualify for the Japan event.
“Namibia is a very structured side and they have gelled well having been in the Nations Cup in Europe a month ago but our forwards have put in the hard work in set pieces.
Our backs have also done a lot of homework on their execution. I am looking forward to our boys fully expressing themselves and bringing home a result that will put smiles on the millions of Kenyans,” said Habimana.
Namibia’s first Africa Cup 1A match was a slim 40-31 win against Uganda in Kampala in which their defensive errors were exposed and Simbas will be looking to take advantage of the situation to punish them.
“The boys are in good spirits for the crucial game. We are upping the intensity and polishing our execution,” added Habimana. Kenya hammered Uganda 48-10 in an Elgon Cup match in Kampala, picked a 18-17 away win against Brazil in an international test match before last weekend’s 61-15 win over Zimbabwe in Harare saw them move up to position 24 in the World Rugby rankings.
The Simbas are expected to go hard on the hosts whom they last beat 29-22 in June 2014 in Antananarivo, Madagascar but registered a hurtful 28-10 loss to Zimbabwe the following month to lose on the coveted 2015 World Cup ticket.
