Car engine maker Cummins South Africa has appointed a Kenyan as its new managing director effective last month.
Racheal Njoroge will be responsible for leadership, operations and strategic direction for Cummins’ distribution business in South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
She takes over from Thierry Pimi, who has assumed the role of executive managing director, Cummins Africa and the Middle East.
The company, which also makes power generation products, said Ms Njoroge has been a pivotal member of the Cummins Southern Africa executive leadership team since 2017.
“Her professional experience garnered at a global level, together with wisdom gained working in Africa and within local teams have equipped her with a deep understanding of the industry both locally and internationally,” said the firm in a statement.
She has worked at the company for the past 12 years.
Ms Njoroge holds a management information systems and business administration degree from Winona State University and an MBA from Ball State University in the US.
