The world is undergoing one of the most difficult periods due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The virus is threatening to wipe out the human race as doctors and researchers work tirelessly to find a vaccine or cure to the viral disease. Healthcare systems are overwhelmed owing to the rising number of coronavirus patients.
And as the global economy sinks, instability rises. Amidst all of this, our unity is more important than ever before. We need to stand together. This is not a time to fight one another.
Since the March 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leaders Raila Odinga, Kenyans have enjoyed peace and unity.
Nepotism and tribalism have declined steadily and the competition over which tribe will rule Kenya is no more.
This is the time to join the world in the fight against coronavirus.
Recently, the Kenya Flower Council, a member of the Kenya Private Sector sent over 300 bouquets of flowers to London. The flowers will be distributed to doctors and nurses who are fighting Covid-19. British patients recovering from the virus will also receive the Kenyan flowers.

Kenya has one of the largest flower growing industries in the world, but sales have drastically dropped. In Europe and the UK, florists have closed shop.
At 1.07 per cent of GDP, Kenya’s flower sector earned the country Sh113 billion in 2018. The industry employs both large exporters and small scale farmers, who are struggling to maintain employees and make profits.
Any help the industry can get is welcome.
This small gesture of distributing flowers in hospitals and sending them to our friends in the UK is one of the many important ways we can show that our unity in Kenya extends beyond our borders.
Unity is one of Kenya’s most important values and this is the time to demonstrate that we care about one another.
Kenya cannot get through Covid-19 alone, and neither can any other country in the world.
As a peace-loving nation, it is our duty to join the rest of the world in fighting the pandemic.
