Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe says 81 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 1,377 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now at 5.9pc.
In a statement Saturday, Kagwe said from the cases 75 are Kenyans while 6 are foreigners. 41 are females while 40 are females. The youngest is a 6-month-old while the oldest is 95 years old. Total confirmed positive cases are now 337,242 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,807,142.
In terms of County distribution, Kagwe said Nairobi had 27 cases, Kiambu 14, Kilifi 12, Nakuru 8, Kericho 5, Siaya 3, Tharaka Nithi 2, Homa Bay 2, Kajiado 2, Kirinyaga 2, Kisumu 2, Mombasa and Taita Taveta 1 case each.
Distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-9 years (7), 10-19 years (4), 20-29 years (15), 30-39 (16), 40-49 (12) 50-59 (11), 60 years and above (16).
Kagwe said 239 patients have recovered from the disease, 159 from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program while 80 are from various health facilities countrywide. This pushes the total recoveries to 330,624 of whom 277,097 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,527 are from various health facilities countrywide.
“Fortunately, no patient has succumbed to the disease therefore the cumulative fatalities remain 5,670”,said the CS.
Cumulative deaths by age; 0-9 years (62), 10-19 years (44), 20-29 (150), 30-39 years (411), 40-49 years (652), 50-59 years (1,031), 60 years and above (3,320).
He noted that there are 54 patients currently admitted in the health facilities, while 894 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. One patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is on ventilatory support. Another 8 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
As of July 22nd 2022, a total of 19,303,467 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 17,009,218 are doses administered to the adult population (18 years and above).
Another 1,603,239 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years, 66,342 are below 15 years but above 12 years while 624,668 are booster doses.
‘The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 82,058 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 26,444. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 32.5%. The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033”,added the CS.
