, NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 15 – President Uhuru Kenyatta has arrived in Sagana where he is scheduled to meet political leaders from the Mt Kenya region at the State Lodge in forum set to discuss the region’s development agenda.
Lawmakers from the region – both national and county – as well as county chiefs from ten devolved units were invited by county commissioners to attend the forum.
Kenyatta was received by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and Kieni MP Kanine Kega upon arrival at 12.20pm.
The meeting coming three weeks since the completion of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report which is yet to be formally presented to the Head of State, and a week after he cancelled a scheduled visit to Muranga has spiraled jitters over the direction the region takes.
BBI, President Kenyatta’s joint unity initiative with opposition leader Raila Odinga following a March 2018 truce is expected to recommend measures to address recurring political violence during elections.
