She jumped on the latest trend in a bid to save her skin from psoriasis.
But Kim Kardashian’s celery juice diet may be doing more damage than good, according to a dermatologist.
Emma Wedgeworth, a member of the British Skin Foundation, has revealed the drink may lead to premature skin ageing and even raise the risk cancer.
The vegetable can increase the skin’s sensitivity to UVA rays in sunlight, she said, which play a major role in the formation of wrinkles.
The announcement will be bad news for Kim, 38, who said she started drinking the juice in January along with the Global Celery Juice Movement.

After advice from the founder of the movement, Anthony William, she said she would be drinking celery juice to help psoriasis on her face.
Mr William claims millions of people drink the juice for its ‘healing properties’, suggesting it gives relief from various illnesses, digestive issues, skin conditions and migraines.
But Dr Wedgeworth said: ‘I certainly wouldn’t advise using celery juice as a way of treating psoriasis.
‘Celery is known to contain psoralens which can increase your skin’s sensitivity to UVA sunlight.

‘UVA sunlight reduces the inflammation of psoriasis – so if you drink a lot of celery juice and sit in the sun, there may be a reaction in the skin.’
She said eating a healthy diet and losing weight is known to improve psoriasis symptoms and including celery juice as part of a weight-loss diet could be leading people to think it helps the skin by itself.
Dr Wedgeworth added: ‘However, I don’t think this is a good sustainable way of losing weight and while UVA can reduce the inflammation of psoriasis, it can also increase skin ageing and the risk of skin cancers.’
UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin and age the skin, but contribute much less towards sunburn than UVB rays do.
Too much ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or sunbeds is one of the main causes of skin cancer.
Dr Wedgeworth said a person’s diet can have a significant impact on how severe someone’s psoriasis is, and this may be why the celery juice diet is thought to help.
Celebrities jumping on the celery juice bandwagon include Kylie Jenner, supermodel Miranda Kerr, American actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Brit Naomi Campbell.
Anthony William – also known as the Medical Medium – is the self-titled ‘originator’ of the Global Celery Juice Movement and has branded celery juice the ‘most powerful medicine of our time’.
The author claims some people are even ‘curing’ themselves of chronic illnesses by drinking celery juice.

Nutritional therapist Alison Orr, a specialist with food intolerance testing firm YorkTest Laboratories, said unless you change your entire diet, a quick celery juice fix won’t provide any ‘detox’.
She said: ‘Some of the claims I’ve seen about celery juicing are misleading and worrying.’
‘Certainly, juicing vegetables can have health benefits. But I highly doubt that it would heal the body of known, or mystery, conditions alone.
‘And it’s even more unlikely if other aspects of a diet have not been addressed – like sugar intake and the types of foods eaten.’
Talking about her psoriasis with Extra’s Renee Bargh, Kim, who was joined by her personal makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, credited Anthony William for helping her with her skin.
Speaking about how her make-up routine has had to change, she said: ‘I have psoriasis all over my face, so it is a challenge.
‘Yeah, I just started, so I don’t know yet,’ she said talking about whether her daily celery juice drinking regime has actually worked.
‘But I know that my psoriasis is really bad, but people have been saying that when you start it comes out and then it clears up.’
She also shared a photo of her ‘gross’ murky green juice to her 131million followers on Instagram story on January 10.
