KING KAFU SET TO BUILD A HALFWAY HOME FOR EX-CONVICTS – GhettoRadio 89.5 FM

Prisoners released from jail or acquitted will stay in a halfway home to be constructed by Mfungwa Ni Binadamu, a not for profit organization founded by Ghetto Radio’s morning show co-host Nicholas Cheruyot alias King kafu.

The facility will sit on a 4 acre piece of land in Kiserian donated by a Kenyan who currently works for Amazon in the United Stated.

The halfway home will help those released from the prisons acquire more technical skills that would help them be independent as well as serving as incubator and counseling centre to ensure smooth transition before reuniting with other members of society.

“People go through a lot in prison, some are released before they are fully transformed to responsible members of respective communities, so we have have an idea of utilising the peace of land to to set up half way homes for those released or acquitted. They will be counselled and taught skills for them to be independent and responsible,” King kafu said.

He further said that the programme will work together with prison officers assessment report on the offenders especially those who had been convicted with capital offences.

He says the recommendations will determine eligibility to sojourn.

“We have plans on criteria that will determine eligibility of those we will admit into half way homes, we have the report of the report of the officers in charge of prison on the person to be admitted, the recommendations will inform the admissibility,” he
added.

The morning show presenter also hinted a planned visit to a Nairobi correctional facility d on Christmas to celebrate with the inmates. He hascalled on the well-wishers to help support in kind by dropping their donations like soap, toilet papers, slippers at Ghetto Radio office in Park Road,Ngara or in cash through Mpesa number 07 04429367.
