Investigative agencies have set in motion an inquiry into reported human rights violations committed since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country.
To expedite the exercise, the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) disclosed that it is already tracking close to 150 instances where acts of criminality have been met on people even as it emerged that 18 deaths linked to police brutality have been recorded since the declaration of Covid-19 pandemic.
Cases of human right violations in the country are said to be on an ascendancy especially now that the nation is battling the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, atrocious acts such as deaths, most of them perpetrated by law enforcers have been recorded since a state of emergency was declared in the wake of Covid-19.

The human rights body disclosed Wednesday that action is already being taken to curb this trend especially in the remotest regions of the country.
KNHCR unveiled a joint partnership towards this endeavour where Ksh 50 million has been injected to boost the drive particularly in rolling out grassroots empowerment programs to encourage citizens to report violations.
