Grief has engulfed Siomo village in Konoin, Bomet county after a 28-year-old man hacked his two sons to death over failure by his wife to contribute money for buying maize flour.
Peter Langat, a casual worker at a nearby tea factory, is said to have arrived home and started arguing with his wife accusing her of failing to contribute money for buying maize flour.
The suspect is said to have warned her wife not to cook meals using maize flour he bought unless she contribute.
The wife who thought his husband was joking ignored the demands and went ahead to prepare supper and fed her sons.

Sensing danger, the woman ran to a neighbour’s house as Langat threatened to kill her and the children
Before they could settle down, the husband storm the neighbour’s house with a panga and started attacking the sons, prompting the wife to escape through the window.
“The wife who is a teacher escaped through the window leaving the children behind,” said Konoin Sub County police boss Alex Shikondi.
Mr. Shikondi said the neighbour who housed the children rushed them to Cheptalal Health centre, but they were pronounced dead on arrival.

Shikondi said police have mounted a man hunt for the suspect.
“We have information that he has escaped to relatives in neighbouring Bureti. He will soon be arrested and charged with murder,” said Shikondi.
The incident sparked anger among resident who have threatened to lynch the suspect if they get hold of him for killing the two innocent children.
Nicholas Cheruiyot, a neighbour, said it was wrong for the suspect to resort to attacking the children over difference with wife.

The bodies of the children have been taken to Kapkatet hospital mortuary.
