As Kenya, Africa and the rest of the world basked in the glory of “superman” Eliud Kipchoge’s feat of running an astonishing 1:59:40 on Saturday to shatter the mythical sub-two marathon barrier, a controversial tweet by firebrand lawyer Miguna Miguna in the wake of Kipchoge’s conquest has attracted the wrath of Kenyans.
The self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) general, made disparaging remarks against the greatest marathoner of all time by insinuating that Kenyans should celebrate the achievements of ‘the brain and not runners’.
And not to be left behind, Kenyans on Twitter (KOT), in their true element, made their feelings known, tearing to shreds the barrister after his tweet on Monday.
Miguna who was deported last year after a stand-off with immigration authorities, added that wars are not won by runners.
