Ruaraka All Stars denied defending champions Cinema a chance to retain the Koth Biro title by beating them 1-0.

The 2018 champions failed to get a goal in a match that was a must win for them while Brian Juma ensured Ruaraka maintained their unbeaten run in the tournament through a late strike in the 62nd minute.

Ruaraka All Stars coach Cyril Peter says the team has been able to maintain their unbeaten record due to support from their community.

Ruaraka All stars was formed by residents in Baba Dogo to expose the talents in the neighborhood.

“Ruaraka All Stars was formed two years ago to utilize football talent in Baba Dogo that was lacking exposure and give the youth a chance to do something with their lives.” said coach Cyril

The coach further says they have a target to ensure their neighborhood will build reputation as a home of football talent in the coming years while at the same time ensuring they get a chance to play in the league by giving experienced and upcoming players a chance.

“We have a long term plan of ensuring the team grows to the national level and our players get the much needed exposure by organizing friendlies with team playing in the Kenya Premier League.” says coach Cyril

Some of their players are currently playing in the KPL including; Tyson Odhiambo(Mathare United), Ali Omijah(Gor Mahia) and Austine Barack(AFC Leopards) among others.

In the other match of the day Allin Jua Kali booked a place in the round of 16 by thrashing an experienced Country Bus side 2-0.

Victor Ochieng and Anthony Wanjiru secured the much needed win for Allin to gift them success in their first Koth Biro tournament title race.

According to team owner Chris Allindi, the mechanics decided to form the team to put their talents into use rather than sleeping under cars in garages during their free time.

“We sat down as mechanics and decided to put our free time into use through engaging in a sport that we all could relate to both as players and fans.” said Allindi

The team has not had an easy ride in their football campaign because at times their fixtures collide with their work schedule and also the challengefailing to raise player allowances.

Allindi has expressed joy with the team performance in the tournament considering they were able to securevictory against defending champions Cinema and an experienced Country Bus side in Group A matches only losing to Ruaraka All Stars

“We are telling our opponents to come well prepared for we are a strong team ready to challenge for the Koth Biro tittle and show everybody that there is talent from the garage.”added Allin

The team is on a success path currently with investments made on players who want to join the team and also enabling them to give training to young people willing train as mechanics while in the team.
