The Kenya Revenue Authority has announced the commencement of the unified payroll with National Social Security Fund (NSSF). This implies that there will be a joint declaration and payment of Pay as You Earn (PAYE) and NSSF deductions.
Further, KRA reveals that it will pilot the unified payroll on select employers prior to full rollout. Upon full implementation, the system will incorporate a joint declaration of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), and payment of the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) levy through the KRA iTAX system.

KRA says the move is aimed at improving the ease of doing business in Kenya. The collaborations will reduce employers’ compliance efforts and costs.
In light of this, employers in large and medium taxpayer category will file their April PAYE and NSSF returns through the unified payroll return available on the KRA iTax system.
