Kenyatta University has invented an instrument for COVID-19 nasal swab test.
The swab test is relatively more comfortable to use than currently used to collect samples from the back of the nasal cavity.
On Monday, the Vice Chancellor is Professor Paul Wainaina took the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Ms Mumina Bonaya to inspect the instrument at the Chandaria Business and Incubation Centre.
Prof. Wainaina said the University was working closely with the Kenya Bureau of Standards and the Pharmacy and Poisons Board and the Ministry of Health to ensure the swab test meets the required standards for validation before industrial production.
