NAIROBI, Kenya, May 11 – The Ministry of Labour Principal Secretary (PS) Peter Kaituko has said that the government will provide job opportunities to graduates who are currently unemployed.

Targeted are those from universities as well as technical and vocational education training (TVET).

PS Kaituko stated that the department is setting up a data base that will contain list of graduates to place them for workplaces.

“We have received so far 11,000 graduates into our data from NYS, we expecting all the institutions including TVET institutions to give us the names and qualifications of their graduates so that we are able to link them through National Employment Authority to opportunities here in Kenya and outside,” the PS spoke during a graduation ceremony at the at National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) in Nairobi, yesterday.

He added that President William Ruto aim is to promote labour migration since the country has enough expertise and workforce for other countries.

This comes after the Government signed bilateral agreements with countries such as Germany, Canada, Australia, among others, that will offer Kenyans job opportunities.

“We are coming up with an elaborate migrate plan, it is part of our inclusivity agenda to equip people with disability with kind of skills required by the labour market,” he said.

“I encourage Kenyans especially those living with disabilities to embrace this kind of program because it will equip them with skills that will make them employable.”
