Laikipia County government sets aside land for industrial park

Laikipia County government will set aside 200 acres of land at Naibor Centre in the outskirts of Nanyuki for an industrial park.

The move is aimed at bringing together different innovators whose ideas were exhibited in the county at different levels and adopted to be the key drivers of job creation among the youths in the county.

Speaking during the opening of Financial Literacy Training for 50 top tier innovators, deputy governor John Mwaniki noted that the park will see that the different youths are brought together where resources can be pulled to enhance high production of the various projects.

Mwaniki said that the different people from across the county will bring in their innovations where the government is planning to finance them through the County enterprise funds after the training and this will create more jobs when the idea matures.

The Ndiritu Muriithi administration promised to create 30,000 jobs for the youths.

The training which will be facilitated by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPACK) will touch on basic accounting, book keeping, recording and cash flow management.

ICPAK chairman Julius Mwatu said that the innovators will also be equipped with basics on business plans, credit and debt management as well as budgeting and risk management.

Mwatu noted that with the expected growth of the businesses the innovators will be subject to pay taxes and hence the need to prepare them for that.

Governor Muriithi said that empowering the SMEs was on top of his administrations priority and having the best trainers come in to partner in this program is commendable.
