A police officer Fredrick Leliman who played a major role in brutal murder of lawyer Willie Kimani, his client and taxi driver has been sentenced to death
The officer is said to have killed Josephat Mwendwa and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri.
His co-accussed Stephen Cheburet was sentenced to serve 30 years, Sylvia Wanjiku to serve 24 years while police informer Peter Ngugi to serve 20 years in prison.
The trial judge Justice Jessie Lessit pointed out in her ruling that the Leliman had personal grudges with Mwendwa who he had shot a year before the murder incident occurred.
The judge further ordered the prison authority to take into account the number of years the four have been in prison during pendency of trial.
The same to be subtracted from their respective jail terms.
The judge pointed out that arrest and prosecution of the convicts were aided by sophisticated technology and evidence from the prosecution witnesses.
