Local football teams Lolomalik FC (Men’s) and Shake Stars (women) emerged overall winners at the Betika na Community football tournament held in Meru county on Saturday, November 23, and Sunday, November 24.
The two teams, who won Ksh 200,000 and KSh 100,000 cash prizes respectively, battled it out against 18 other teams for the much-coveted title. Apart from the cash prizes, each winning team was awarded a Betika shop.

All participating teams were provided with football kits and balls to further their training.
The tournament, which had over 7,000 fans in attendance, was organised by Betika through the recently launched Betika na Community initiative.

It was a culmination of week-long activities, held by the betting firm in Meru which saw them hand out occupational gear and protective clothing like reflector jackets and mechanic overalls to the Meru residents.
The program aims to invest in the youth by nurturing talent through sports, arts and culture events.
Under the sports program, the initiative aims to support the youth in the community through the provision of uniforms, financial support, kits, balls, nets and other sporting equipment.
