CID officers arrest Peter Mugure

Hundreds of irate Nanyuki residents on Monday gave police officers a hard time when they brought to court Peter Mugure to court.

Major Mugure is a Kenya Air Force officer accused of murdering his wife, Joyce Syombua, and their two children.

The residents were baying for Major Peter Mwaura Mugure’s blood and that of his alleged accomplice, Collins Pamba, over the gruesome killing that has left Kenyans lost for words.

The two murder suspects were brought to the Nanyuki court in a convoy of three unmarked police vehicles.

They were produced before Nanyuki Chief Magistrate Lucy Mutai, who granted Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer 21 days to complete their investigations.

A crowd of hundreds showed up outside the Nanyuki court as Major Peter Mugure was produced. Police had a hard time controlling the crowd.

DCI detectives told the court that they need time to visit several other crime scenes, conduct forensic examination of the three decomposed bodies and study Syombua’s phone communications.

Police said investigations are likely to reveal other suspects involved in the murder.

The court ordered Mugure to be detained at the Nanyuki Police Station and his alleged accomplice, Pamba, 25 kilometres away at Naromoru Police Station.
