A 25-year-old man is nursing injuries after he was attacked by an irate mob after the macabre killing of a female colleague through stabbing over suspected romantic differences at Chicken Inn fast food outlet in Kitengela, Kajiado county yesterday evening.
The man slit the stomach of the deceased open in full public glare in a horrific crime of passion.
The deceased is aged 22 years and is said to be the daughter of a senior police officer serving in Kiambu county.
Irate customers who witnessed the murder most foul descended on him before he was rescued by the police.
The attacker is said to have left work early and later came back before committing the act.
According to witnesses, the man who was not on duty stormed the restaurant on Friday night at around 8:30 pm and stabbed the woman multiple times with a knife.
She groaned in pain before passing out with a pool of blood strewn all over.
Kajiando County Police Commander Muthuri Mwongera confirmed the Friday night incident.
Mwongera says the suspect is recuperating in a Kitangela hospital under police watch awaiting his arraignment on Monday.
The body of the deceased has since been taken to Shalom Hospital Mortuary as investigations into the case are underway.
So far, Chicken Inn management has not issued any formal communication in connection to the incident.
