A sombre mood has engulfed Lukume village in Malava area of Kakamega County after a 35-year-old man killed his mother after attacking her with a machete.
According to eyewitnesses, the two were involved in a heated verbal exchange over their family’s property before the man who appeared deranged violently attacked the mother killing her.
According to area Chief Malik Shanguya, the suspect who has since been arrested and taken to custody is exhibiting signs of mental illness. The police station where he is being kept was a beehive of activity as locals surged while baying for his blood.
