– Paul Scholes and Robin van Persie were among the standout players during the clash played at Etihad Stadium

Paul Scholes was back in action on Wednesday night, September 11, at Etihad, making an appearance during Vincent Kompany’s testimonial.
The legendary Man United midfielder was among the Premier League All-stars XI who battled Man City legends during the match.
Dutch legend Robin van Persie and ex-United midfielder and current coaching staff Michael Carrick also featured.
However, it was Scholes who proved class is permanent, parading sensational passing skills as he ripped defenders apart.
The Englishman drew a gasp from the Etihad crowd with a no-look sliced pass, as United fans took to social media gushing over the former midfielder.
Some even suggested the 44-year-old could still walk straight into current United’s midfield.
One posted: “I’m not even joking when i say get Van Persie and Paul Scholes back at United. Scholes to boss the Midfield and show Pogba how it’s done and Van Persie to show Rashford how to score goals.”
A second noted: “It’s sad to think that players such as Michael Carrick (38), Paul Scholes (44), & Robin Van Persie (36) would all stil get into the current Manchester United side.”
A third joked: “Sleeping Paul scholes is better than Lingard.”
Meanwhile, the match finished 2-2, with Robbie Keane and Van Persie scoring for the visitors.
Martin Petrov and Benjamin were on target for Man City, with the latter scoring a late equaliser.
