Residents of a village in Nakuru County were shocked Monday evening after a decomposing body of a man was found buried inside his house.
The body of the 55-year-old man was found under in a shallow grave under his bed days after he went missing.
His neighbours at Mzee Wanyama village, who got suspicious about his whereabouts, broke into his house and found the body wrapped in a sack.
“We saw something tucked under the bed and decided to find out what it was, only to find the shallow grave,” said Ms James Kamau, a neighbour.
The victim’s wife said she travelled to Nakuru from Kisii after she could not reach her husband on phone for a week.
Nakuru Town East Deputy County Commissioner Herman Shambi said police have opened investigation into the incident.
“Detectives are pursuing a young man who was staying with the victim but is now missing,” Mr Shambi said.
