NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 4 – Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano will be keen to see his side bounce back from what he termed as a ‘miserable loss’ to Police FC last weekend, Elvis Rupia’s 15-minute hattrick seeing them suffer a 3-0 loss at Kasarani.
The defending champions dropped to third in the standings, but could potentially move back up top with victory against Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday afternoon at their Ruaraka Complex backyard.
“The players have adapted a positive mentality after that miserable loss to Police and we have taken it as sportsmen. We are more focused than before towards this coming match,” the tactician said.
Matano says they have worked to strengthen their defensive outlook especially after what they saw in their match against Police, a catastrophe at the back seeing them concede three easy goals.
“We have worked more on our defending especially on one v one situations from what we saw against Police and also organizational play for the whole team. I believe we will be better improved.”
They face a Sharks side which has been in good form over the last four matches, winning two and drawing two.
Their wins have been massive, a 5-1 thrashing of Posta Rangers, and a 1-0 win over Bandari FC at the Kasarani Stadium.
Meanwhile, the Kasarani Annex will host a double header, with KCB taking on a struggling Mathare United in the early kick off.
The Slum Boys have had their struggles, conceding nine goals in their last two matches with a 5-0 spanking at the hands of Police FC in midweek following up another five-goal disaster, last weekend’s 5-1 loss at the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz.
The latest results have seen the head coach Boniface Omondi sacked by the club with Sammy Koko, the keeper trainer, taking temporary charge.
In 10 games, Mathare have only won once.
In the late kick off, FC Talanta will take on another side under pressure, Bandari. Since their victory over Tusker FC, the dockers have lost three successive matches, and only bounced back to winning ways in controversial manner last weekend, beating City Stars 2-1 with a late contentious penalty.
In other matches, Wazito play Sofapaka at the Muhoroni Stadium, Kakamega Homeboyz host Posta Rangers at the Bukhungu Stadium while Gor Mahia will take on City Stars at the Kasarani Stadium.
