May God Curse Me If I Cover-up For Murderers, DCI Boss Kinoti Declares –

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has vowed to protect Kenyans in the renewed fight against extra-judicial killings in the country.

Speaking on Thursday in Kayole, Nairobi, during the community dialogue on extra-judicial killings, the DCI boss declared that his institution is keen on exposing people killing innocent Kenyans.

“I want to be charged here. I stand before you and declare that anybody be it under my command or myself that will ever cover-up for someone who has killed an innocent person. May God himself curse me. No one will ever cover for a police officer who kills under my watch.” Kinoti said.

The officer, who was accompanied by the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji, expressed his sympathies to Kenyans who have lost their loved ones through extra-judicial killings.

According to Kinoti, killing of innocent people by the police cannot be termed as s extrajudicial killing but crime.

“There is no word like extrajudicial killings but we have unlawful killings by police officers. Some of us kill innocent people, ” he said.

Kinoti’s remarks come at a time when Kenyan police face frequent allegations of brutality and extra-judicial killings from civilians and rights groups.

Recently, activists in Kenya accused police of being behind Caroline Mwatha’s death- A prominent Kenyan human rights activist from Dandora who championed the fight against police brutality and extra-judicial killings. She was found dead, six days after she went missing.
