Ward reps want Governor Alex Tolgos to record a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on what he knows about the Kimwarer and Arror dams scandal.
This follows claims by the county boss that alleged stolen funds for the dams have been given to MCAs to destabilise his administration.
He particularly mentioned Deputy Speaker Christopher Chemosong as the one who will sponsor an impeachment motion against him. He further claimed Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen was using MCAs to eject him from office over his hard stance on the loss of funds meant for Arror and Kimwarer dams.
“I am reliably aware that the senator is planning for my impeachment through the county assembly with a view to silencing me after I publicly mentioned to the people of Elgeyo Marakwet that the corruption proceeds of Arror Kimwarer dams scandal were being used to cause friction in our county,” claimed Tolgos in a statement issued to the Press last week on Monday.
Reckless talk

“It seems the governor knows the details of how money was channelled to the assembly and we are asking him to go and record a statement with the DCI because we are all interested in the truth and justice. We need our dams and those responsible should bear the cross,” said Mr Chemosong.
Assembly Public Accounts Committee chairman Paul Kipyatich said impeachment talk by the governor is diversionary.
He said a report by the assembly had indicated that the county is riddled with ghost workers and poor service delivery. However, the governor has denied the existence of ghost workers.
“The governor is running away from his responsibilities and accountability and he is misled to think that attacking the assembly will scare the assembly in its oversight role,” said Kipyatich.
