MCAs have faulted a decision by the county administration to centralise all procurement processes under a newly formed directorate.
The ward representatives have now summoned three-county treasury officials to explain how the decision was arrived at.
Finance Executive Peter Ketyenya and two Chief Officers Muchinah Gitau (Finance) and Kennedy Momanyi (Economic Planning), will appear before the committees of Finance and Budget to shed light on the move.
Governor Lee Kinyanjui formally decreed the creation of the procurement directorate and appointed Samuel Wachira as its acting director. Grishon Githiomi is the deputy director.
All procurement officers from the various county departments were moved to a central office in Nakuru town’s London Estate.
MCAs who have faulted the move argue that the Governor has flouted the Public Finance Management (PFM) Act by forming the directorate without consulting the assembly.
