NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 11 – Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan McKinstry wants his side to be more clinical and score more, especially with the quality they currently possess.
Looking back at the clash against Kariobangi Sharks over the weekend, the tactician said they should have won by a bigger margin, but they needed to be sharper infront of goal especially in the first half.
“We were wasteful in the first half. I thought our levels were below what we need to be. The dressing room was a bit loud at halftime because I had a few things to say. I don’t think anyone was impressed with the first half performance,” said the coach.
He added; “We were a bit improved in the second half and we could have had maybe two or three more goals. I think we need to be more clinical especially with the quality we have.”
K’Ogalo’s victory ensured they retained a four-point buffer between them and second placed Tusker who matched the same result against Sofapaka.
Meanwhile, McKinstry was full of praise of Sharks’ tactical and technical acumen, picking them out as the best passing team in the league.
He said his side worked hard for the victory, and was delighted especially coming in a month that will prove brutal, with back to back matches every three days.
His next focus now will be on Wednesday, when his side takes on Bandari FC in Mombasa, looking to keep their winning run going.
“It will be another difficult match away from home, but we need to maintain that same spirit and consistency and ensure we use our chances and protect our defense well,” noted the tactician.
