“Mildred Odira Was Probably Raped And Murdered By Taxi Driver Davies Ochieng”

The late Mildred Odira could have been raped before meeting her painful death, investigators have said.

Prima facie reports from the sleuths indicate that the state of Ms Odira’s undergarments pointed to a possible rape ordeal before a horrendous murder.

According to the Daily Nation, Ms Odira’s body had a wound on the forehead, another on the cheek, a cut on her abdomen and fractured legs.

Tracing her last moments, the police learnt that she left her Kariobangi South home on January 29 at 4am, headed to hospital. She is said to have been diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure two days earlier.

On the material day, the situation had deteriorated forcing her to seek medical attention in the morning.

“She was not well. She had been diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension just two days earlier, so she wanted to go to hospital. When she left the house, the security guards at the court’s gate helped her hail a taxi to take her to Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital,” said her sister, Ms Maureen Anyango as quoted by the daily.

The security guard and the driver who took her to hospital have since been arrested in the investigation.

It is reported that the driver of the taxi arrived at the hospital at around 4.33am and stayed there for around one hour and 24 minutes before leaving the facility at 5.57am. All this time, no one alighted the car according to CCTV footage obtained from the hospital.

Hospital records back the narrative, showing that Ms Odira was not booked at the hospital.

“The footage shows the driver leaving the hospital patting his chest, with a client believed to be Ms Odira in the back seat,” reports Nation.

At around 7am, Ms Odira’s mutilated body was found at Allsopps and taken to the city mortuary where she was booked as body number 178, of unidentified female adult.

This is where the family would learn of the news of Ms Odira’s death on February 4, five days since she went missing.

However, the driver recorded a contradicting statement with the police. Davies Ochieng’, the driver, told the police that he had taken Ms Odira to Uhai Neema Hospital in Ruaraka, waited for her for an hour and 20 minutes, and then left.

This is what led to his detention up to February 14 as detectives continue with investigations.
