Mildred Odira’s brother, Carrington Odira’s life could be in danger.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Mr Odira opined that he was last evening followed home by two men in an unmarked motorbike. He was in the company of his cousin, Boniface Kaseo.

According to the deceased’s brother, the men stayed through the night only to demand that he drops his sister’s case or risk losing his life as well.

“Today in the morning around 7, I opened my gate and found two guys on a motorcycle and they told me ‘drop Mildred’s case or follow your sister’… I reported the matter to Tassia police,” he said.

Unshaken by the death threats, Mr Odira swore to follow up on his sister’s case even if it meant losing his own life.

“Even with all these threats, I am not moved, if Milly’s case will take me to the ground, I am ready, so be it,” he said. “It is so painful, mtu anachinja mtoto wenu kama Mildred (someone’s slaughters one of your children like Mildred) then again come to threaten you. Let them come and kill me but the truth will stand,” he added.

With Mr Odira was Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo who noted that Millie’s death could have been a crime of opportunity.

“…maybe there are people who were keen on murdering her but then there is also the possibility of a crime of opportunity and even in a crime of opportunity, what the persons are likely to do is cover their steps, they will threaten,” she said.

The deceased’s remains were on Monday found at the City Mortuary with deep cuts on the forehead, neck and navel.

According to her brother, her legs were also crushed an indication that she could have been run over by a car.

Police reports also indicate that Millie who was on her way to the hospital could have been raped prior to her murder.

In custody is the taxi driver Davis Ochieng’ who was supposed to take her to the hospital on January 29 when she went missing and the security guard who helped call the taxi.

Ochieng had initially told the police that he dropped off the deceased at Uhai Neema hospital at around 4.30 am and immediately left.

But according to surveillance footage at the hospital, he stuck around for almost two hours.

“The footage shows the driver leaving the hospital patting his chest, with a client believed to be Ms Odira in the back seat,” reports Nation.

At around 7 am, Ms Odira’s mutilated body was found at Allsops and taken to the city mortuary where she was booked as body number 178, of unidentified female adult.

Investigations into the heinous murder are still ongoing.
