A Form Three student from Bar-ding Secondary School in Siaya County who had been reported missing has been found dead.
The body of Kevin Otieno Musula was found on Thursday along the banks of River Yala by his relatives.
Kevin went missing on September 8, 2019 and his whereabouts remained unknown for over a week.
The Deputy Principal of Bar-ding Secondary School, Mr. David Onyango, told Citizen Digital that the boy left school and went to their home in Gem where he disappeared was suspected to have committed suicide.
He stated that according to the boy’s grandmother Mama Rosalia Nyasigunga who had been staying with Kevin, her came home from school on September 8 and then called his elder brother Musa Musula who had been paying his school fees.
Mr. Onyango added that according to the grandmother, Kevin was then heard complaining that Musa (elder brother) said he would only send Ksh 3,000 yet he had a fee balance of over Ksh.8,000. The boy then left home and never returned.
The Deputy Principal, who confirmed the death of the Form Three student, stated that when Kevin failed to return home, the family began searching for him in vain and even called the elder brother who went to Siaya from Nairobi on September 10 but they still couldn’t find him.
It was until yesterday that the family got information that the boy’s body had been discovered along the river bank in Sirandu village within Gem sub-county.
They alerted the police who took the body to Siaya County Referral Hospital mortem for post-mortem as investigations into the matter continue.
