A section of students from Moi University main campus in Kesses, Eldoret are on Tuesday expected to report back after its indefinite closure two weeks ago.

In a circular signed by the university’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kimengi last Thursday, the institution announced that only Engineering students in their first, fourth and fifth year would be resuming.

According to Prof. Kimengi resumption of academic programmes for the second and third year students will be announced at a later date.

“All students will be required to clear requisite semester fee and sur-charges,” stated the circular.

This was after students went on rampage two weeks ago, leading to the indefinite closure of the institution by the varsity senate.

Some university officials were reportedly injured after they were caught in the melee.

The students claim that there is mismanagement of university funds, insecurity and a hike in examinations fees.
