Users of mySafaricom app have a new software update arriving as version 1.5.0.3 and with it comes one of the best things to ever happen to this app.
If you are a regular user of mySafaricom app, you must have encountered a case where the app would completely fail to fetch the M-PESA PIN authentication page when you are withdrawing cash, paying a bill, sending money or even when buying airtime.
This can be annoying and mostly embarrassing depending on the situation at play. Usually, the only way to get around it is to revert to the good old SIM toolkit, but in the latest update to the app, Safaricom has made a much-needed tweak to how things work.
Going forward, mySafaricom app now supports in-app M-PESA PIN authentication. This means you won’t have to leave the app in order to provide your PIN when making an M-PESA transaction, instead, everything happens from within the app.
For now, in-app M-PESA PIN authentication feature is limited to transactions that involve sending money, withdrawing cash, Lipa na M-PESA, Bill Manager, and checking balance.
Another tweak I have also noticed when sending money is the checkbox to “Add withdrawal charges” that appears right below the open “Send Money” window. That’s pretty cool, if you ask me.
