The past week the media has been awash with news of a mysterious disease that took root in Starehe Girls. The ailment sparked the imagination of many a Kenyan with many weighing in on social media.
And the unmasked ailment at the centre of Starehe Girls Centre’s issues which by the way is still in quarantine and has Starehe Girls students suffering is mass psychogenic illness (MPI) also known as mass hysteria.
The report from the Ministry of Health (MOH) comes just a day after Starehe Girls sent students home following an outbreak of an unknown disease that saw 68 of them quarantined.
According to MOH, upon being notified by the school, they immediately dispatched an advance team of experts to the school to investigate and assess the situation.
