Nairobi Night Clubs Warned Against Noise Pollution During Festive Season – GhettoRadio 89.5 FM

Nairobi County Government, through environment department has warned entertainment joints and members of the public to desist from making noise as the festive season approaches and students prepare to undertake the KCSE and KCPE examinations.

Cityhall Environment Director John Paul Malawi says that his officers will enhance surveillance to ensure noise perpetrators are dealt with  firmly according to stipulated regulations.

“We shall not sit down and watch you disturbing peace of others because you are operating a club…we have clear guidelines and we have demonstrated to all club owners on the noise  limits. Anyone exceeding the required Decibels shall be dealt with accordingly,” Malawi said.

“Noise have long term effects and if we allow the same to happen then we are not serving our people. So we have warned them we have also  given what is required. It is now upon them to ensure that they adhere to these  regulations,’’ Malawi added.

Last month Nairobi Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri directed club owners to adhere to the laid down rules and regulations failure to which action will be taken against those defying county directives.

The DG said there was need for people to co-exist peacefully where people can reside as well as conduct their businesses.

“Our manifesto is to enable businesses to thrive but you must not infringe on residents rights, “said Muchiri.

He added that the county government is committed to protecting businesses, hence the need to embrace dialogue so as to find a lasting solution.

“We have a duty and an obligation to ensure we create a conducive a environment for businesses of all sizes to operate, “ Muchiri noted.
