Cartels in Nakuru County were left reeling in shame after a sh1.5 million pit latrine at Kabatini Ward Administration offices sank just a few hours to its official launch.

The shoddy construction of the four-door pit latrine was done by Carofa Enterprises in a perceived dubious tender process.

Workers were about to report to the site on Thursday morning ahead of the Friday official opening when the 30-feet lavatory came tumbling down.

Kabatini Ward MCA Peter Macharia blamed cartels within the county government of colluding with rogue contractors to steal tax payers’ money through poor quality building materials and poor workmanship.

‘We than God the latrine hadn’t been launched for use, otherwise we’d be talking of a tragedy now’’, laments Macharia
