Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday morning arrested Nandi Senator Samuel Cherargei in his Eldoret home.
Cherargei’s arrest comes just a day after he was summoned by the DCI officers over remarks he made that are believed to be inflammatory.
Detectives had camped outside his home for hours before he finally surrendered and was arrested and driven to the DCI offices in Nandi to record a statement.
The Nandi Senator is expected to explain the remarks he made at the funeral of the late teacher Dominic Kiptoo Choge at Lelwak in O’lessos.
Speaking at the funeral, Cherargei claimed that supporters of Deputy President were “marking and profiling” those opposed to his presidential bid.
He went further to warn that when the time comes they would “deal with” the DP’s opponents.
